About Topaz

The birthstone for November, Topaz is a gemstone of abundance and the manifestation of pure desires - it may not bring you wealth, but it will enhance your mental clarity and creativity to achieve your goals.

A silicate mineral of aluminium and fluorine - Al₂SiO₄(F, OH)₂, Topaz has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale. Although hard, it is prone to fracture due to its crystalline structure, so should always be treated with care.

Naturally occurring in shades of yellow, orange and brown, Topaz is often confused with Citrine.  The inclusion of different impurities leads to pinks, reds and greens, while colour treatment of the clear for gives us blues.
